Welcome to Pawnderings
Small stories. Big smiles. Accidental wisdom.
I notice things.
I write them down.

Occasionally, something useful appears.
Usually, a dog was involved.

When you leave...
Whether you spend five minutes reading a story or work with Pawnderings over several months, my hope is the same. That you leave...

-
smiling a little more
-
quietly uplifted
-
a little more curious
-
a little more present
-
kinder to yourself
-
less caught in overthinking
-
more connected to your own experience
-
more peaceful

I hope you don't just know something new.
I hope you smile at something you hadn't noticed before.

Meet Hester
I've always been fascinated by the little things we notice, feel, and struggle to put into words.

Whether I'm spending time with a dog, talking with a founder, writing a story or walking through a forest, I'm usually noticing what's already there — and trying to bring it to life in a way that makes people smile, think, or see something differently.

That's how Pawnderings came to be.
Small observations
Sometimes a dog says it better than we ever could.
Or a moment does.
Or a small, slightly chaotic observation that makes you laugh because it's uncomfortably true.

Notes from your dog is a collection of sarcastic, slightly-too-honest reflections from life with dogs — where dogs often have strong opinions about how things are going (and how humans are getting it wrong).

Short reflections, images and tiny truths from life with dogs and the humans who love them.

Stories, dogs & kind words

About Pawnderings
“It's a real gem! As a dog lover, I found this book to be a wonderful, amusing and insightful read. I especially loved the reflection at the end of every story—thoughtful little reminders of “what we can learn from…,” adding depth to the charm and humour."

About care
"Hester is a 5-star pet sitter and we loved having her. Her communication was excellent and I felt very comfortable leaving our animals and property in her care. Our collie totally adored her and wouldn't leave her side. Would love to have Hester petsitting again for us and I would not hesitate recommending her."
Elaine S.
About care
"Hester’s calm, steady approach with Pipa has been incredibly reassuring. She takes things slowly, respects Pipa’s space, and shows real commitment to building trust. After a few visits and garden sessions, Pipa gradually began to trust her and is now comfortable and confident in her care.
